But it is difficult to know what to make of the report. Despite the Re line, it is not really news on Concordia. The report is demonstrative of a major problem in the public capital markets. The source is supposedly "people with knowledge of the matter"; completely anonymous. I will give Allison McNeely and her editor the benefit of the doubt and assume that she actually spoke to someone. But if the person does indeed have knowledge of the matter, it is illegal for him or her to be disclosing it, and Bloomberg should not for that reason be publishing it. In fact, it should be illegal for Bloomberg to do so. Why is this person speaking? What is his or her purpose? It must be either to get people who own shares to sell them or, alternatively, to get people who do not own shares to buy them. There could be no other purpose. Whether or not it will be effective, it is an attempt at market manipulation. As I said, a result consistent with this report would be a great thing for me, but either way, I would never alter my behaviour based on a report of this nature. Unfortunately, many retail investors will, and it only plays into the hands of whoever instigated the report and is thereby attempting to influence people to behave in a manner that favours his or her interests.

Sorry to troll you meetoo - but this is NOTHING like what you have been saying all along.  IF taken at face value - A BIG IF - it confirms:

(1) negotiations are ongoing / deadlocked and there is no DONE DEAL.
(2) its a rights issue that only tackles 500 - 600 million in secured debt. There is over 4 billion face value debt outstanding.  It does not tackle the underlying problem and will not spike the stock price as per back of napkin calculation.
(3) it may be the prelude to a recapitalisation whereby emboldened unsecured note holders threaten CCAA as there is no residual secured debt.  In which case I guarantee you will be left with some useless warrants or nothing at all...........

I would hate to see what a bad outcome looks like to you....................
