Want to Buy 100 shares of VRX or 200 OF CXR. Which one the better bet.Your opnion pls.

Personally, I think with all the controversy and uncertainty surrounding VRX, I'd go with CXR.  Q3 results were fairly positive and I think the model that CXR has is a more enduring model.  Rather than simply buying and stripping, CXR uses what they buy to add to organic growth.  VRX may have more potential upside, but I would say CXR was beaten down as a result of the ...more

Definitely CXR.  Although VRX may be coming back (maybe not), there is still some negative stigma attached.  Some are also concerned about potential drug price slashing.  CXR has top notch, transparent management that does not rely on hiking drug prices.  I am not saying VRX's management is not competent or anything of the sort, I am just confident that Concordia's is.  ...more

investatbest, sliinger, thanks for reply, I tell you the whole story, i bought 300  vrx for $315 each, as for cxr my current position is 1650 shares with avarege of 73. if i buy 100 shares vrx @$112 my average will become 265canadian.instead of $315.

Different situations call for different tactics. If you're looking to apply a cost-average strategy, then your best bet is VRX.  The position you have with CXR is large and with the company trading back on it fundamentals now, I would imagine it will return to that level at some point within the year.  This will be true if quarterly results continue to trend in the right direction.  ...more

cxr $50 +(up side 66% run=33)=total $83 -----vrx $ 112+( up side 66% run= 74) =total 186. which 'll hit the target first.

The consensus here is CXR obviously and others indicate TA is in our favour as well. Otherwise, flip a coin. Nobody really knows. VRX will not recover as fully as CXR given its real concerns on pricing, and sales by Philidor. It might rebound to $250 next year whereas CXR may hit $150 after a few good quarters. VRX will continue to have the dark clould hanging over it for quite a while. Which ...more

Have look at CXRX bid and ask this morning. All of the offers are pulled right up to open.

Another reason to stay away from VRX. Too much exposure to the US Obama Healthcare that is starting to show cracks developing. Big' bad day for Obamacare as UnitedHealth considers exit;   Obamacare dodged a huge bullet last summer. On Thursday, it got a very loud warning shot across its bow.   Leading insurance company UnitedHealth said on Thursday that it expects to take ...more

1- vrx face value is $120 US(can 160).  Sales based on 3 year ago +assets 2-congress-can force them to reduce the price of 2 medican. 3- ex employ statements are important part.in this story 4-regulater of new york= nothing illegal only immoral. 5-backed by well street hedge fund. 6-majoty of the shares are bought by hedge fund AT $70+ not by retailers. 7-my best guess, ceo sold his share to ...more

You are down 200% VRX. Sell for tax loss and buy more CXR since you are closer to profit $70 on that one. If you have VRX in RRSP, TFSA you are out of luck and should still go CXR I think. Way more upside sooner than later. VRX is like poison ivy - a nasty rash that doesn't go away. It has reduced sp for some real reasons. It will recover as long as it shows next few good quarters I guess, but ...more

Stockcoach 1; it seems you have a handle on this but I have no idea how Obamacare can affect CXR. Are you aware of any implications for CXR? Other opinions from other posters welcomed.
Comment by adamchess on Nov 21, 2015 12:03am
In future, less than half of CXR business will be from US, and only a percentage of that will involve Obamacare. Possible impact will be very small if any. Obamacare should be adding to healthcare/medical sales and services for persons who were not previous;y covered. Net effect is positive for CXR.

SLIGHTFANI AND adamchess both of you pls read the stuff again STOCKCOUCH1 mention VRX not CXR.   late night effects?

health1234: slightfan asked stockcoach about affect of obamacare on CXR and I gave my 2 cents. regards
Comment by Stockcoach1 on Nov 21, 2015 1:13pm
Slight fan - The question asked was ....should I buy VRX or CXR. My answer was that VRX still faces headwinds because they are so heavily vested in the US healtcare system, somewhat dependant on Obamacare, and is therefore not my choice. CXR as Adamchess correctly pointed out, has at most minimal, or no exposure to Obamacare, and therefore makes it the obvious choice. No implications.
