Could this short term trading strategy cause the volatility?
Suppose I have 10,000 shares. I put in sell orders after an up tick, say $50 and dump them all. In a matter of hours, esp. if others are doing this as well, this drives down the SP 5-10%. After the SP drops sufficiently I buy back10,000 shares and pocket the difference. I'm wondering if the relatively low volumes of CXR makes a strategy like this easier to pull off? And is CXR in the "sweet spot" for this kind of day-trading to be profitable?

As long as the traders outnumber the fundamental investors, this will trade according to the charts since traders 'create' the charts by selling (short) when it rises too fast and selling begets more selling until over sold. Those using stop losses are feeding this behaviour. very soon it will reverse IMO if the general market is supportive.

exactly. needs big volume to make a meaningful move (by long term investor), the traders will follow the trend. when stock is weak it's easier to manipulate. And the traders have this one. selloff looks way overdone but no one is stepping in yet in a meaningful way

unfortunately it hit my stop loss this am ($46). now the price is having trouble breaching that price. $46 now resistance perhaps? if it ends higher than $46 i will obv regret, but i had to go w the gut when the chart was telling me to sell

An example of why you don't want to feed the bears. If MT is on BNN on Ednesday, expect retail to drive up the volume and hence SP. Right now it is traders fighting traders.

this is why i still have calls. lol. you never know. i have more $ in calls than puts but my calls r down quite a bit atm. hoping to make some pp both ways. sell the puts if it drops, and sell the calls if it rips. win win. i hope! ;)

It's amazing that for weeks, you were monitoring this board, but had no inclination to join. But as soon as you joined , you have been an expert firing 100's of posts. I have sources within SH, and that is how I know all your aliases, keep trying to distort the truth and talking to yourself.
