Key question going forwardIf any readers/posters here have a good contact at Cryocath, it would be nice to know if JK has, or plans to, develop a magneticly tipped catheter, for the Niobe system. The robotic Niobe system is, IMO, the future of the cath lab, as it eliminates the interventionist from any radiation exposure. To date, Biosense Webster, a JNJ division, has developed an approved (but on manufacturing hold due to charring) irrigated catheter for RF ablation, while two European companies are developing RF irrigated catheters, for the Niobe, on an independent basis. Any manufacturer is free to deveolop a magneticly tipped catheter, for the NIobe system, since all catheters have to be used in conjunction with a Steriotaxis $1000 disposable drive unit. Would be nice to know, that KJ is up to speed, with 150 Niobe systems to be in place, mid 2009.
