They were permitted to mine beforeand they will be permitted to mine now. Of course, the difference
is that 20 years ago the area beside CZN was not officially a
national park. I feel that CZN will win on precedent alone, but
they may have to comply to a few more conditions. I think federal
government will help CZN as they are also interested in providing
jobs for the natives and recouping tax dollars from the region.
If there never was a mine here before, I would say that we would
not be allowed to mine, but we are well past that and political
football is just being played out. A compromise will come about,
because the mine was there before the park.
