RE:RE:Just took a look at B&B bookings at Cineplex for todayGreat research as always Silentreader. I also have been keeping an eye on seat sales on Cineplex and other various smaller chains in the USA. (i.e. Cobb Theaters selling out like mad too - that theater always overperforms)
I'm pleased with this performance because normally under other circumstances, alot of customers probably would pass on getting D-Box for this movie, because they don't associate it with needing motion or because its not an action or horror flick.
I think with this movie alot of people wanted to get the "full experience" that they could get for this big event movie, so they decided to splurge a bit.
A couple of other things off topic - I noticed D-Box updated their website a bit to reflect some newer cinemas that have D-Box under the China locations. Seems they added about 7 more including the BestStar cinema chain where they have full auditoriums. Looks like they are selling to more theaters there in China but they just don't release Press Releases when they sign up just 1-2 screens in a new chain. That's fine....I only really want to know about the BIG contracts, and I already assume they are selling a bit more here and there.
Also, I came across some information about Aeon Cinema in Japan.....if I'm not mistaken, I think they added a brand new location as well.
Next weekend, we have "LIFE" and "Power Rangers" movie for D-Box - that should bring in a bit of business as well as the carryover business from Beauty and the Beast.
Going to be a good year for us! With this kind of seat usage these past few weekends, to me the stock is now completely undervalued as the potential royalty revenue is looking to be a record year.
