RE:RE:do people like these seats?Yes, I can agree totally with Silentreader....
Him and I have done our research to see people's feedback on the seats over the last 5 years.
It's exactly how he states it: either they love it or they don't. But the majority of people do seem to like it, but for only certain movies. (obviously action and horror).
Here's the thing with the seats: they remind me of those 3D pictures you stare at where you just see a bunch of pixelated squares and if you stare long enough and let your eyes get lazy, then the 3D picture POPS out at you and you are immersed into the picture. Many people just can't ever see the 3D image no matter how hard they try and many others let themselves relax and see it.
The same applies with these seats. Some people call them distracting. Some get totally immersed into the movie with the seats once they let themselves relax and accept it for what it is.
People who feel its "distracting" most likely have low attention span issues and can't multi-task. Their brains are hard-wired differently then others. These are also people that go to see an action movie for its dialogue and not the action it should only be viewed for. Those are not the customers we want. We want the adrenaline junkies who want to be thrashed around and "feel" the action because those people don't care about the dumb storyline, or stupid dialogue that hollywood writes up. They want the special FX and imagery and want to feel blown away.
I've found that when it comes to movies and the "extras" that theaters sell, people are VERY picky, almost as much as people are picky about food. Your friend could LOVE a movie and you could absolutely hate it. You like 3D but your friend thinks it gives him a headache. He likes IMAX, but you feel like its nothing special. You don't mind paying the high prices for concession, but your friend will smuggle in food because he thinks he's being ripped off.
Ahhhh the movie industry.....toughest industry to please everyone. Too bad D-Box doesn't sell chocolate. That's the only product I know that 99% of the population likes.
But in conclusion put it this way: Cineplex has had D-Box seats for 5 years now. Queensway location in Toronto was one of the first locations and they still sell out. 5 years of consistent sell outs for blockbuster movies.....obviously many do like it, and are repeat users. I've used them over 10 times now for movies and I will choose it each and everytime.
