In working with my affiliate who is a HydraGEN dealer - I've never heard this about a 3-year refurbishment mandate. I have also read through all of the owner manuals and warranty documents for new HG1 units, and this is not stated anywhere. I don't know if this was ever stated by the comapny anywhere, as the only thing I've ever seen documented, is that the unit "has a 10 year service life, and is maintenance free, except for a recommended annual air-filter cleaning/change for the cooling fan filter." This filter is a small 3" square sheet of sponge that filters outside air behind a vent grill on the unit which supplies an internal cooling fan.
