Encana is an independent oil and gas producer with key assets in the Permian, Eagle Ford, Montney, and Duvernay areas. At the end of 2018, the company reported net proven reserves of 726 million barrels of oil equivalent. Net production averaged 361 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2018 at a ratio of 43% oil and natural gas liquids and 57% natural gas.

Earnings miss but up in after hrs trading. Debt reduction is falling faster than anticipated. Tomorrow could go either way. Glta

The oil/condensate hedges through EOY suck rocks. ~15% swap @ $47 ~40% 3-way capped at ~$53 ~5% collar capped at $46 That leaves ~40% of production free to capture full WTI price. Not bad overall but it hurts to see so much upside left on the table at current oil prices. At least there's still negligible 2022 oil hedges so far.

The fact that OVV still has negligible hedges for 2022 despite current pricing - is a strong predictor that prices might be lower next year. So far just taking the opposite approach to their hedging has been the right choice.
