RE:Question for AccountPrinceThis is a very delicate matter.  First, did the bonus arrangement paperwork receive a heavily redacted treatment by all parties?  If yes then just tell CRA they aren't entitled to the details except what the parties choose to reveal.  Follow what Jack Nicholson said in his famous "You can't handle the truth" line.

Just because you can spend the bonus like a drunken sailor doesn't mean you should declare it all at once.  Spread it out over say 9 years for CRA.  But by all means spend it now and pay old bills with it that you deduct currently from it.

Oh and most important of all find an accountant named Chris to answer CRA's - or anyone's - questions.
