Tree cutting

Some of the Greek properties owned by ELD were owned by TVX a number of years ago. TVX  at the time was controlled by Eike Batista who is now the richest man in BRAZIL. TVX had a $350 million development loan lined up from the European Bank for Reconstruction. The Greeks stopped the development by claiming that the work would interfere with the burial place and bones of  (I am not sure) either Aristotle or Archimedes.

Eike Batista got fed up with the Greeks delaying all work and sold the Greek properties and eventually they ended up in the hands of ELD. The Aristotle or Archimedes excuse happened some time in the 90's. The local mayor was one of the major opponents.

Would it be too bold to think that some of the locals would be looking for some 'bakshis'?

In any case it looks as if the wood cutting is just another roadblock and unfortunately history might be repeating itself. I hope not.
