Good run today..
ELR is on many institutions radar at this time and no doubt it was the most traded stock in TSX today...
The steady momentum should take this higher. The news for platinum is good all around, I had not see any negative forecast for platinum/palladium in the last 2 months....GLTA.
As 2010 gets into gear, investors are hoping the new year will be a duplicate of last year, when one of the most impressive market rallies in history unfolded.
To that end, Raymond James has published a list of their 13 best picks for 2010 based on expectations of their outperformance in relation to other stocks under coverage.
In 2009, Raymond James' 13 analyst-selected stocks returned 145% on average compared to 87% for the S&P/TSX SmallCap Index. In 2008, the best picks list returned - 59.6% versus - 55.4% for the SmallCap benchmark and in 2007, it netted 13.9% versus - 3.5%. The annual list has provided an average return better than the index in six out of 8 years since 2003.
"We expect these stocks to outperform over the next six to 12 months, however, our best advice for investors remains to select high-quality companies, allocate assets appropriately and invest for the long term.," said Daryl Swetlishoff, head of investment research at Raymond James, in a note to clients.
Based on analyst price targets, the 2010 best pick list is expected to average a total return of 45% over the next twelve months. Eastern Platinum Ltd. has the lowest expected return of 15%, while Quadra Mining Ltd., again makes the list as the stock expected to increase the most, with upside expectations greater than 150%.
Up a staggering 585% last year, Quadra continues to get high marks from analyst Tom Meyer, for its strong copper production growth and the "company making" potential of its 100%-owned Sierra Gorda copper-moly project in Chile,
With shares trading at an EV/EBITDA ratio of 2.1 times versus the peer average of 5 times, Quadra is still significantly undervalued, Mr. Meyer said.
Also on the 2010 list are:
Aura Minerals Inc., Cenovus Energy, The Churchill Corp., Eastern Platinum Ltd., GLV Inc., Gran Tierra Energy Inc., H&R REIT, Methanex, Pan American Silver Corp., San Gold Corp., West Fraser Timber, Yamana Gold Inc.
