Analyst Robert Tuttle and Bloomberg look foolish today

Analyst Robert Tuttle and Bloomberg look foolish todayENB announced on Monday that the demand to move heavy oil through its Mainline only exceeded capacity by 3% in June and 7% in July.

Of course the Bloomberg headline states that the oil producers are moving slowly to come back online as they focus on the fact that demand for pipeline use typically has exceeded supply by up to 40%.

In the clip today, Tuttle said that "Canadian pipelines are running pretty empty compared to normal".  What a fricken moron.  ENB's Mainline is running ABOVE capacity which means they are full which of course means they are not running "pretty empty" at all.

The media is an embarrassment.  Their need to supply sensational bylines takes precedence over facts at every turn.

On another topic, I keep reading how tech stox are the new "safe" investment.  Really????

TSLA is trading at 9,905 times earnings....no problem if you have ten thousand years to live
NFLX is trading at 73x....no problem if Amazon and Disney and other formats all fail
GOOGL is trading at 49x...no problem until some paid influencers convince us of something better and they only have to stay in favour for 50 years.

In the meantime, ENB owns 25% of an industry that everyone needs as opposed to wants and they get their annual price increases backed by governments who can't afford to invest in the infrastructure, is self-financing, will grow DCF by 7% (they say 5% to 7% but do you really think they won't come in at the high end of the range), have weathered the worst economic storm since the 1930's with only a small dip in DCF which they said they would bill offset by temporary cutbacks, and the dividend yield is almost 8% with virtually zero chance of it being cut.

Yes, we keep hearing about how the pipes are a dying industry.  And yet, Warren Buffet, the guy recognized as the best investor in the past century just bought a gas pipe company with his first significant purchase for Birkshire in 5 years.  The politicians sway with the wind and right now, the lady in MI is on a roll, but wait until winter comes and MI doesn't have fuel.

ENB might be the safest investment in North America.  They can and will grow their DCF in the future by improving their efficiency and adding in small increments that don't raise eyebrows across their vast domain.

I have always favoured real estate over the stock market until now.  Based upon the above, I have decided to redeploy the proceeds from a real estate sale to the stock market, with a significant portion dedicated to increasing my holding in ENB.  If the share price drops, I will buy more.  One way or another, it will be my decision to invest which puts the responsibilty squarely on my shoulders, just like everyone else.
