Standing up to the new wave of eco bulliesFantome has warned us about the radical left. I for one have discounted his fears because I couldn't in my wildest imagination believe that people like Gretchen(s) Thunberg and Whitmer would be so short sighted that they would publicly humiliate themselves in the way that they have.
Surely, these well intentioned but clueless individuals would have advisors that would rein in their blinded perspective in order to present their views in a way that the real world wouldn't end up mocking them.
Thunberg is looking like more of a fool every day. And yet, many love her regardless of the fact that she offers no alternative other than we should all go back to living in caves. Every time I witness the demented rantings of this seemingly MKUltra victim, I have to ask why the media givescreedence to her cause. Oh yea, the media is doing what it always does, which is to grab sound bites that sensationalize a topic with no concern for reality because it makes for better media.
Whitmer is all grown up and should know better. She also has advisors that actually receive feedback from constituents that have real problems. While it is understandable that Thunberg might rely on the mutterings of once credible but currently a bumbling relic like Al Gore, Whitmer has no such excuse.
What would posess Whitmer to bare her throat in such a feeble manner by trying to undo a 67 year old easement that ENB has shepparded with a perfect safety record. Whitmer claims that Line 5 is a grave an unreasonable risk and must be shut down in 180 days.
Whitmer says that ENB has violated the terms fo the easement for 67 years by putting the residents of Michigan at risk for 67 years. Surely she meant to say that ENB has safely delivered 500,000 barrels of oil per day for 67 years that has been the backbone of industry and the source of both power and electricity to the automotive capital of the USA?
Is Whitmer another victim of brain washing or does she just have a self serving agenda?
ENB should never hire someone like me because if I was in charge of the Whitmer situation, I would have done the following:
1) solicit from the staff how the oil/gas could be redirected away from Michigan
2) figure out how many days it would take to implement the changes
3) contact the 5 most likely sources of alternative energy to Michigan over the weekend with an explanation about why it is so important to stop Whitmer before her insane agenda without a plan spreads and puts America back into the Dark Age. The point of the call would be to question why any company would want to ramp up deliveries to Michigan when the probably outcome is that Whitmer will target them with her next hair brained scheme intended to forward her political agenda.
4) when I had my ducks in a row, which would likely be possiblein a few days or perhaps a couple of weeks at most because any good business always has a backup plan, I would publish the fact that ENB, as a great corporate citizen of Michigan, was going to shut down the tap to Line 5 on 24 hours notice at the bequest of the esteemed Governor. .
5) given that Mr. Trump abdicated responsibility for serving the American public about 6 weeks ago, and his track record with Whitmer, and his refusal to work with Biden's transition team, I have to wonder if the cavalry would be charging to the rescue. Based upon actual reality, perhaps Whitmer might come back to the table with a new attitude.
I may sound like my good buddy Donald Trump on this issue of negotiating hard, but when people are threating your livelihood, only the meek turn the other cheek. When the residents of Michigan fully understand the ramifications of Whitmer's insane proposal, I think they will choose what is best for them, which is to heat their homes and power their electricity suppliers while saner heads come up with a realistic plan to make the world a better place for everyone.
I spent a week on vacation with one of the top oil execs in America a few years ago. I was surprised at the time when he indicated that everyone in the oil industry wants to make the world a better place and that they were striving to do so. The oil industry has been planning for years on how to lead the way towards a greener planet in a responsible way that wouldn't completely destroy society in the process.
It is time for ENB and others to stand up to the new wave of eco bullies so that the likes of Thunberg and Whitmer don't destroy humanity.
