What is missing in all of this is the ENB has a proposal to build an underground pipeline across the strait to replace that section of Line 5 and even this is being stonewalled by Gretchen.
Frankly all of this by the Dems is a combination of virtue signalling and crase political calculations. In Michigan, the people most affected by a closure of Line 5 would be the people living in the Northern Penninsula who rely on the pipeline for their propane or they would freeze in the dark but vote Republican.
So Gretchen won't lose any seats there but could gain seats in the liberal South Michigan.
ENB is right to thumb their nose at Gretchen because by the time this gets to SCOTUS Gretchen will be out on her behind or SCOTUS will rule her edict as unconstitutional.
