BOISE, Idaho (AP) - An environmental group has made an agreement with a mining company not to challenge a proposed cobalt mine in central Idaho as long as the company does other work to enhance the upper Salmon River watershed.
The Idaho Conservation League and Formation Capital Corp. of Vancouver, British Columbia plan to release details of the agreement on Monday.
Rick Johnson, executive director of the environmental group, tells the Idaho Statesman that the agreement will help the company prove they can be a good environmental neighbor.
Mari-Ann Green, chief executive officer of the mining company, says the company is pleased to join in the agreement to improve the natural and wildlife resources in the area.
