New Reactors

New ReactorsWorld Nuclear Assn. announced that 2016 saw 10 new reactors brought on-line.

"2016 marked by ten new reactors coming on line China again set the pace in 2016 with five new reactors connected to the grid, along with two construction starts on major power plants and one as a small floating nuclear power plant.  South Korea, USA, India, Pakistan and Russia each registered one grid connection. The ten new plants were balanced by three retirements in Japan, USA and Russia of small and old plants. Two US reactors had significant uprates.  As well as the two China construction starts, we record two in Pakistan, at the Karachi coastal plant, being built by Chinese companies. One of these was in 2015 but not announced then, and the second in May 2016 according to IAEA data"
