Toronto, Ontario-headquartered Fairfax India Holding Corp., a publicly-traded investment holding company, has invested approximately C$72.1 million in Seven Islands Shipping Ltd., the second-largest private tanker shipping company in India. Seven Islands, headquartered in Mumbai, owns 14 vessels and transports products along the Indian coast as well as in international waters. Fairfax will own 41.4 per cent of Seven Islands, which will use the proceeds of the direct subscription to expand its ocean-going fleet by acquiring additional vessels and for general corporate purposes. Fairfax India invests in public and private equity securities and debt instruments in India and Indian businesses or other businesses with customers, suppliers, or business primarily conducted in, or dependent on, India.
