I agree that there is a difference between short and intermediate trades, and the larger cyclical trends in all markets.
However, all trades have risk including trades that are aligned with long term trends.
Wouldn't you agree that all trends are cyclical and all trends someday end?
It appears that the Yen is the most aggressively debased currency right now.
But it is also the case that all fiat currencies, including the USD are being actively debased.
Economic conditions change and Central Bank policies can change without warning.

If you were short the Yen, right now, and it started a rally, at what point would you decide that you were wrong about the trend?
At what point would you close out the short?
