RE:Whati NWTBecause there is a lot more out there than FT - in its own right.... this is a road to riches as well and will allow a lot more exploration, while satisfying the FT mine requirements.
That price tag includes road maintenace over the next 28 or so years and is about half of the cost of the project.
Winter roads and related risks and not cheap either. warming climes, road late openings and early clousres are factors and can interupt local resupply and travel.
FT Over its mine life will pay roylties that will easily cover the cost of this and more for both ferdal and teritorial governments who have contributed to the cost.
Trickle down economics with the workforce and other developments in the life of the mine will also be hundreds of millions.
Lac lamarte where the Hamlet site is ( Whati) , is one of the most beatiful lakes in the NWT with great tourism potential when that market returns.
Having worked in the community ....i can assure you, based on my experience, the communtiy is not alchohol or drug free... Socio / economic impact agreements have been and are discussion points and will be implemented as plans unfold.
