I don't subscribe to the FInacial times, but the headline speaks for its self. While cobalt will be the metal of choice for battery manufactuers, there will always be some who use other types of batteries and this is not new news or technology as alternatives have been around for years,  most say that the alteranitives will be a minimal impact on the big picture of cobalt, for at ...more

and that 20% of makeshift production where fatalities and human rights abuses occur is refered to as "Artisanal" mining, which on the face has a quaint tone or inpresion that has most thinking of a french bakery like type of operation but in reality is hell on earth. Where the heck artisanal came to be in mining i have no idea - scab mining would be a better term.
