Say what.

Chalk another one up for the treasures at FT ....bismuth is yet to rear its head and we have no shortage of it in our unique technical deposit at NICO, Some have to see the value in this deposit and start to act on it.....self charging  ion batteries wow ...the future is going to be very interesting...

A team of researchers from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has developed an inexpensive, lightweight, and non-toxic (lead-free) photo-battery that has dual functions in harvesting solar energy and storing energy on a single device, making it possible to charge a battery under the sun, without having to plug the device into the wall…The increasing demand for sustainable energy sources has driven a surge of interest in solar energy and developing storage devices for it. One such device, the photo-battery, is capable of both generating and storing energy in a single device architecture…A team led by Prof. Jonathan Eugene HALPERT, Assistant Professor from the Department of Chemistry at HKUST, has made advancements towards developing more efficient photobatteries by expanding the utility of a class of materials known as perovskite, which has had applications in solar cells and most recently in batteries…The perovskite halide the team developed acts as a photoelectrode that can harvest energy under illumination without the assistance of an external load in a lithium-ion battery, and is in stark contrast with its existing counterpart for it does not contain lead, hence it has higher stability in air and is free from the concerns of lead poisoning. For their research, the team has replaced lead with bismuth (Bi), a non-toxic element, and forming a strongly light-absorbing crystalline materialThe lithium-ion battery works by allowing electrons to move from a high energy state to a lower one, while doing work in an external circuit. The photobattery has a mechanism similar to an ordinary battery except that it need not be supplied current or plugged into the wall to be charged electrically, but can be charged photoelectrically under the sun…The active material in this new battery is the lead-free perovskite which, when put under light, absorbs a photon and generates a pair of charges, known as an electron and a hole…“At present, we plug all our appliances into the wall to charge them. With further development in this field of photobatteries, we might not have to plug them in at all in the future,” said Prof. Halpert. “We might be able to harvest solar energy and use it to fulfil the power requirements of any devices with modest power needs. Our work is one of the initial steps taken in this field, and, of course, a lot of improvements will be needed to achieve better performance, but we are confident that we can improve its stability and average efficiency with further refinement.”…This photobattery can serve as the built-in battery for devices such as smartphones or tablets, and even remote energy storage applications, which can be made easy with these photobatteries for they are lightweight and portable.

Good one Red. All this bismuth could end up being the winning ticket for us. Tuck

What we are going thru at the moment is a bit ridiculous...well.... maybe more of a mystery of which most I know get solved, especially when all the facts are on the table as is the case with us and missing one component. Hopefully soon some group puts 2n2 together and develops the plan to capitalize on this deposit ...forget the FT fundamentals ...the deposit contains everything a technical miner ...more

Tuck....ur crapper post on S ....great ...why that bb not jumping all over FT has me baffled....it's true it could very well put S on a new NA trajectory and in fact satisfy S CEOs own statement of getting more into the BM's and CM market .....it's not done with thier cobalt billets ....Yes they have great Ni  but they ( we ) need more than Ni.for batteries.....they have no source ...more

Thanks Red. I've made a few posts on their board. You're the only one that bothered to respond. They are fixated on Cuba. The shareholders that is. The management from both companies surely are talking. Just for the heck of it I emailed the scientist in charge of the bismuth battery project in Hong Kong. I will let everyone know if I get a response. Ha ha.

The S potential is our best option but it's still speculation on our part - Just makes too much sense - when the S CEO says BMs and CMs are his current and future goal, I like to believe that he means a bit core than Ni .....they don't produce battery grade cobalt YET but serriously with proven Nico and huge potential of Sue Diane it literally is the potential future of the company, as a S ...more

All in my humble opinion: @Red, Hypothetically, if companies that do business in Cuba, cannot sell into the USA due to an embargo, why would "S" be the best option as you phrased it ?  Furthermore, why do a presentation in the U.S. consulate ? It doesn't make sense to me. Hopefully, there are other options. Anyone heard when the drill program is starting ?

Really? Think about it Cuba Products cannot be sold in USA  Nico ( Canadian) products could be sold in USA  We make a presentation to the US embassy because we want exposure to USA end users  S has facilities = fastest best way to get us to a sellable product  makes perfect sense and and like I said, is a possibility to me

@Red, You may have missed my subtle point. What would lead you to believe they would not be affected by the current embargo or any future embargos ? (Don't get me wrong, I am cheering for the long time shareholders. They need a win.  Management has been getting paid all these years?) Really? Think about it - YES, I HAVE BEEN THINKING ABOUT IT Cuba Products cannot be sold in USA   ...more

SFA ... I just put that out there I really have no expertise on the matter but these days with paperwork and a new LLC I figure there is a way to do this if some one wants to and given the potential billions in revenue..... some one will want to. So I get your point and appreciate it. but I see it's as a potential for FT.  In terms of another processor site ..... if I interpreted ...more

Hey- no news on the drilling program. In the quarterly filings I did notice that the anticipated date is now the fall.  seems like the first domino is the refinery announcement. So we are basically waiting  cool. Lol
Comment by Jim1712 on Aug 24, 2021 6:55pm
Maybe build a second refinery in the same location and share expertise and people . Jim

It is kinda the beauty of FT ...possibilities abound but one thing for sure, given the status of the Nico deposit and permits subsequently in terms of potential to be on board, we have to be the best battery metal and critical metal " ready to go" sources in NA. if half of what we read ( including your next post) is true it seems a no brainer .....something has to give.

Great to see Chinese innovation. Just the beginning. Speaking of which: Biden's green energy plan, botched Afghan withdrawal boost China's rare metals monopoly   https://justthenews.com/government/white-house/monbidens-green-energy-plan-botched-afghan-withdrawal-boost-chinas-rare John Solomon does good work too.
