Deal

Fortune should cut a deal, any deal with the Chinese (or Russians) and force the feds to the table.  Governments will do nothing for as long as possible if they can get away with it.  A deal with a less preferred partner, even a crappy deal for shareholders will force action from Ottawa.

Ottawa has an abundance of rhetoric.  This could pour out in great quantities denouncing or promoting what the government wants to promote or denounce.  You don't need cash. Judging by the current standing of so called front runners of ELBM and JRV etc etc ... there must be some serious forces at work looking to keep Canada and the USA out of the CM mining and processing business.... and its not just China. when our government acts is key to the next couple of decades... we talk a good story here but fall to walk the talk.  we as Canadians will pay a price ...more

Irving's refineries buy the cheapest oil.  Through 2010 it was Venezuela that supplied it.  Almost all Alberta crude goes south to Oklahoma, where we get 40% of world prices, in part due to the quality, in part because there is a monopoly buyer. Trans Mountain is twinning their pipeline to the west, but this has historically shiped to the US Cherry Point Refinery or the Burnaby ...more

Trudeau gets $ for every barrel of oil that Irving imports. This was set up by PET I believe. No wonder he doesnt like the West as this would cut into his huge wealth.

Perhaps Come by Chance gets its oil this way.  from wikipedia, "The Irving Oil Refinery is a Canadian oil refinery located in Saint John, New Brunswick. It is currently the largest oil refinery in Canada, capable of producing more than 320,000 barrels (51,000 m3) of refined products per day.[1]" At 320,000 barrels per day,  it is a good size.  ...more
