Fire sale?

CCAA will ensure shareholder interests are not bypassed if they see through what debt holders are doing,if in fact they are even doing anything.

 

My own opinion: A house was on fire. The owner with a neighbour find a bucket of liquid. Owners thinks it's water, but neighbour says it gasoline. Owner of house tosses the gas onto the fire. Why did you do that the neighbour asked. Well, I have to do something to save the house said the owner.

Don't worry. Shareholder interests will be looked after well. I might even buy some shares soon.

What you are talking about when you talk about shareholders being looked after is the realizable value of the company.   One could argue that creditors might get forced into accepting some type of deal that would help the company achieve profitability and then later grow.   One could also argue that creditors will reject any offered deals and decide to liquidate or otherwise dispose of ...more

There is the risk that shareholders can lose out. But CCAA still has to consider the shareholder's interest. Obviously, the focus is on the creditors and their claims. But it's not automatic that the creditors can demand and get 100% of what they are entitled to.    It is not uncommon to see offers to pay a percentage on the dollar of debt, either as a lump sum or over a ...more

I already have enough in the company. I was being sarcastic.   The past 5 years prove they could not execute on their business plans, for one reason or another. Maybe not entirely their fault but nevertheless a failure.   They were somewhat amateur to go into coupon clipping for charity and the like, nickel and dime stuff (can read past news on their website ...more
