If this merger proceeds, Fortuna will find it impossible to maintain the fiction they're deserving of a silver premium. In pretty short order, their gold production will make the silver an afterthought.

Some little while back I calculated that this thing was worth no more than about $4 US in comparison to other mid-tier golds.

I wouldn't go so far as to say this company would continue to enjoy the silver premium if the Roxgold deal were rejected. But if the shareholders vote yes and the deal is approved, look out below. The Japanese have a word for this procedure: seppuku or hari-kari.

Count me out. I just had the pleasure of voting against.

Well wife and I voted for the agreement. Rational?  I've been watching the price of silver and gold for the past 15 years. I originally got into silver stocks and FVI because I believed silver price was going to take off compared to gold and it still hasn't. I think FVI management was wise to focus on gold and its role it plays as a commodity and the value (money) it is to central ...more

The silver premium is a passing fad imo. No one can predict with certainty that silver will skyrocket. Ive heard that narrative before in 1980 and 2012 only to see it fall flat on its face. At the end of the day its profits that will propell a stock higher. If you can find a gold mine that has AISC of $850 and you sell it gold $1700 that sounds like a good business proposition to me...even if gold ...more
