Ajax Downs and Kawartha Downs

Ajax Downs and Kawartha DownsThe slots at Ajax Downs were slated to close end of 2019 when the new casino opens up in Pickering.

The slots at Kawartha Downs were slated to close once the new casino opened at Peterborough (it opened last Monday).

Due to Ford promising during elections to look into it - everyone got to the table and OLG changed some of the rules.

The slots at Casino Ajax will stay open (till 2026 and further 12 years after that) with 500 sot machines (down from 800).

The slots of Kawartha Downs will stay open with 150 slot machines (even though Kawartha and the new casino @ Peterborough are only 10 minutes away).

Not sure if they have modified the total number of slots that GC can have to accomodate this change. GC has not said anything and no press release. Hopefully they increase because the number of slot machines will be maxed out at the 3 casino's in GTA partnership (now will be 4).

Two more operations which were to be closed now will stay open (GC responsible for both - one in GTA East Partnership and the other in GTA One Partnership).
