RE:Value Stocks

RE:Value StocksI'm new to the stock market and after studying several Canadian stocks earnings and fin. statements I felt GC was a good investment.  When the stock rose to $52 I was tempted to sell but didn't as I felt that over the long haul it could go to at least $60. But with the volatility of the present market it has gone as low as $47.  Do you feel this stock is subject to shorters or is this volatility due strictly to today's market conditions.  After reading your post my gut tells me to hold.  However, I had no idea how much shorters,  with thousands of shares, can manipulate the price up and down.   Am I being naive - is this a concern for all stocks today?
