Russ please provide the source of your information.  What you've posted doesn't line up with the facts. I am looking at 2003 IPO for Gamehost Income Trust on the Venture exchange. Company raised $20mm @ $10 per unit. In 2008 the company graduated from the Venture Exchange to the TSX, then split the units 3-for-1, and increased the dividend.  Maybe you are mistaking ...more

Howdy Russ, following up on your comments about share price performance.     I note that the 2003 IPO was at $10 unit price.     When a $10 unit splits 3-for-1, that reduces the ACB to $3.33.        Share price today is more than double the split adjusted share price of IPO.    Take some time to digest the total dividends collected by ...more

In all fairness the dividend cannot be ignored in this calculation.  It makes this a solid investment in regards to roi. Although who paid $10 for this in 2003 and has held it that long?  Wow, can't be too many shareholders in that boat.

I know some people who owned it before the IPO. Bet they have some shares that were less than $1 acb today.

Russter. Still waiting to hear your source of information relating to share price concerns dating back 14 years ago.  Credit crisis, Fracking revolution, Pandemic, Fires and Floods certainly played a part in suppressing value of share price.  Were you able to investigate the facts on SEDAR? https://www.sedar.com/sedar/background_on_sedar_en.htm

He is not coming back, he did a hit and run. Not sure his motive. You have to keep emotion out of investing and he broke that rule.

The part I find puzzling is when Russter complains about share buybacks.    This character fails to understand that all shareholders benefit equally from a reduced share count.     Our shares realize enhanced cash flow per share through a vanishing share count.     Per share metrics improve equally for all of us.    You can lead your horse to water ...more

He has a rockstar lifestyle and he needs the cash now! I don't get people who want 100% payout ratios, but I guess everyone has different preferences. Stocks like that just tread water or slow decline. This is an investment to make a stronger company.

I agree.    Seems now is best opportunity to max out NCIB.    Make hay while the sun shines, buy GH shares when the forecast is gloomy.   If people need yield, go buy pipelines and banks.   If they want zero risk and complain when share prices don't go straight up, buy GICs.  GH will increase its dividend in time but doesn't make sense to do so ...more

Malx1, nice summary on the direction we're headed, and as they say in the entertainment field, "Bye George I think you got it"!

You bet. When Bridge and I own a casino, we want to ensure that its financial integrity is at, or near, its peak before we stress the balance sheet by paying out all surplus earnings as dividends. Cpeczek has pointed out that a payout ratio between 60-80% leaves a business with room for capex, NCIB, targeted debt repayment, pay hikes for TheBridge, increased marketing and room financial ...more
