Terribly unhappy at uptick

Been looking forward to buying 100 more GH for my wife's account with month end dividends, and prices were nicely down towards the mid eights...now look at it.

You don't get to $900 a month in dividends in that account without missing a few buying opportunities along the way.

That's good math

and I got 100 at 8.77 for this account just now. And Cpeczek...congrats on being in the happiest part of the country. Myself (Ontario) and Malx1 (BC) appear to be the making up the rear.

You guys are a lot smarter than I am, buying under 9 bucks... my last buys were 9.50, so not a happy camper... my next transaction will be on the sell side .12 bucks. How long do I have to wait  Malx??

If we consulted the professional odds makers in Vegas, I'd wager to guess your $12 exit price would look like this: 50% Within next 12mo 25% Within 2yrs 15% Within 3yrs 10% Within 4yrs Reason(s) being:   GH is not immune to the world around us, however, we know that Regional Entertainment Operators located in GP / Fort Mac / SE Calgary will be much more Financially robust than ...more

Was heading your way last year on a road trip with my wife and had to cancel the Saint John ferry due to the arrival of Fiona. Scooted back up and ended up back in Quebec and Gaspe Do like NS and our East Coast, Scenery, culture.... but somehow I am happy in our incessant traffic jams. Dunno, something about following the tailpipe of a big truck that invigorates a person And you have to love a ...more

You might have seen me. I live in Saint John. All those reasons you described and the plague of strip malls were definitely motivating factors, but the strongest for me was the housing costs. In 2017 I already saw that I was boxed out and paying an astronomical amount of rent. I applied to jobs in every province except BC and Quebec (even Northern Ontario). Got an offer to move to PEI, took it ...more

Luck of the draw and demographic made home ownership a win for me but then again that makes me older than you and just about ready to RRIF out. We flew by Saint John and headed east to St Stephen to put distance between ourselves and Fiona. Next day we drove up through McAdam to the main route up to Edmunston and back into PQ...Do like the city you live in. I was lead on auditing a mine up in ...more

Sage, If you are one of those who don't need cash from your RRIF, there's a strategy to use your accumulated cash each year to pay the required "withholding tax" on your de-registrations. Ballpark example: $25,000 total Dereg $20,000 value of chosen equities at time of Dereg, say 2,300 GH shares $5,000 cash used as "withholding tax" Here's a more formal ...more

Whisper heard loud and clear. Much better than the RRSP\RRIF strategy pumped by (bad) advisors some years back Borrow money, interest covered by withdrawals and taxable income is flat But that leverage is dangerous IMO...far to stupid to play with retirment monies that way Your strategy at least delivers the shares to me personally

Check your inbox for details.   People are permitted to make their withdrawals in-kind.    The financial institutions don't often speak of this option  because it requires extra work on the Advisor's end, and a little creativity.
