Gennum at the 2010 Olympics

I understand that Gennum's technology will be used at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

Does anyone have details??

For a company that has just been through more than its share of reverses, things are suddenly looking up for Gennum Corp., a Burlington company with Ottawa operations. The big reason is high-definition broadcast technology. With the Winter Olympics, World Cup and other major events on the horizon, broadcasters are upgrading equipment rapidly, even if advertising revenues are still in recession.
Gennum makes the fast chips that deliver high-definition images better than competitors: ESPN converted this spring and the BBC is overhauling studio technology. Gennum wowed analysts with claims that it has 50 per cent of a $100-million market. The product has jumped to 12 per cent of all company revenue from almost nothing a year ago.

Afraid this doesn't mean much -- basically the article is referring to the fact that Gennum's technology will be found in some of the HD studio/broadcaster equipment that broadcasters may or may not buy for the Olympics.  Since the article came out in September, when the stock was around $4 and a quarter, and today it's $4.65, I guess whatever massive sales were expected have ...more

I spoke to someone who attended the investor conference. He said that the company indicated all 3 branches of Gennum's business keep growing better than their expectations.What are you hearing about their earnings on Feb 10
