That would have been a great opportunity to buy more cheap shares, hopefully there will be more volume with this.

Much depends on the motivation of GXE BOD to be acquired. Any potiential takeover interest would certinaly question the DEBT, and the DIVIDEND. GXE is solvent as a stand alone. To your point....OIL prices and price stability is key.

If I remember correctly, a couple years back someone had mentioned that GXE had a huge tax loss advantage if it was ever bought out

Couple years ago they all had large tax losses. You get them from losing money. ATH had, and still has, the mother of all tax losses. Some posters here like NTB and his pal have enjoyed stupendous losses in things like Qmet and "swing trading" gxe. Whatever that means. Sounds like just another flipper. You make good points but you are also looking at a different value of buyer to try to use up $3B in tax losses compared to $100MM.  For example Cenovus might be interested in ATH but could care less about GXE. Where as Spartan Delta might want a small fish like GXE to offset their capital gains this year they really can't swallow what would amount to a whale to them in the form of ATH ...more

LAst week the CEO from Surge mentioned on a webinar that GXE might be of interest to them for an acquisition.

A lot of good points here. The only point I have to add is that markets can remain irrational for longer than shareholders can stay solvent.
