RE:RE:Advice from regular posters
Agree, the market always has something to worry about... always.

Today, it's a trifecta of worries... inflation, rising rates and Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

Before that... covid and the end of days.

Before that, it was Trump and his trade war/tariffs on China, Canada, Europe and, of course, the instigator of potentially the first civil war in the US since the 1860's when Lincoln ran the country and then ultimately assinated. Today, Trump is finished as a leader which also likely spared him from the same fate as Lincoln.

Before that, in December 2018, the market had it's worst close on Chirstmas Eve since the Great Depression on fears of rate increases. Ironically, rates crashed to zero in 2020.

Before that, Brexit.. the EU debt crises, the US debt ceiling crises, the 2008 finanical crises... and it goes on and on. And every time, the market comes back.

The biggest enemy facing most investors is not the market itself, but personal greed and lack of patience. Work to remove the former and build on the latter. Works for me.

Sirlostalot wrote: Hello , just wondering if I might be missing something in the company numbers , dividend is only ~ 40% free cash flow , debt interest rates are quite secure for the foreseeable future ,occupancy has increased fairly well. Was previously in this name ,took the big hit after Covid and exited  with the crumbs I had left . Am considering investing again but can't help but think I'm really missing some iceberg out there given how low the share price is ? Is it really just recession fears? Any thoughts would be appreciated , many posters seem quite familiar with the inner workings of this stock. Thanks

When the shareprice of a stock keeps dropping steadily as HOT has since March of this year when the sharprice was around $4.20 it does also make me wonder if there is something wrong here. As you say the payout ratio is low and after the dividend HOT is still banking aprox.  $18 million US per year. Occupancy rates have risen this year after Covid.  And lets not forget the $50 million US investment by BentalGreenOak and Highgate which should give shareholders some more confidence.

Every year we have this kind of thing happen at this time of year with Tax loss season. This year we also have soaring interest rates and talk of a recession next year.  There is always problems ahead and the world always seems to be on the verge of ending at least according to some but we have been hearing this forever and somehow we are still here and doing quite well.

I have been slowly adding and will be happy to collect my 10% dividend for a long time to come.

Good luck to all.
