Keep in mind a strong dollar means deflation, which would help all asset classes fall in relation to that currency (supply and demand of the dollar). Dollar is being demanded, therefore its price goes up, and the assets it is being traded for go down. This means equities, RE, commodities, etc. 

 

In 08 after all markets crashed and looked terrible, the Dollar index was its highest in years.
