Athena is larger than thoughtSuccess at this well implies the Athena field may be much larger than previously thought.
The following extracted from Oilbarrel:
The company’s
opinion which seems to be reinforced by the latest developments is that Athena
has significant upside development potential to be evaluated by further
development drilling, giving rise to the notion there could be additional gross
possible reserves of 12.042 million barrels or 8.429 million barrels net to the
company. Total probable and possible reserves would then be 40.03 million barrels
gross or 28.02 million barrels net to the company. No question the field is
commercial.
Initial analysis was, according to the company, that well # 15 would produce
approximately 5,000 bpd upon development. In fact, as we move on, Ithaca has
indicated that with three wells in production and one injector, with the crude
exported via an 18 km tie back to the Claymore field, the field could quickly
be developed with rates of up to 10,000 bpd. This is only one field of course,
and is a revisit to a known discovery. Ithaca has assembled 28 blocks and part blocks in
the North Sea.
