Dividend raise in Q4? No, but thank you.

Dividend raise in Q4? No, but thank you. Many investors believe that Inter Pipeline will raise their dividend in Q4 this year for the 9th year in a row. They certainly could based on their payout ratio.

I would prefer to see the dividend kept at 0.135$ per share per month for another year. Why? Because I feel that when the market is behaving stupidly, you deal with stupidity first. I would be happy to see a share buyback in Q4 paid out of the excess cashflow. That would quickly educate the shorts and the market in general. Enbridge is trading at 45 PE and IPL is trading at an all time low of 17... which indicates that IPL's value is not recognized. Granted, ENB has more projects in the pipeline but also a lot more risk associated with interest rates.

Inter Pipeline has to teach the market a lesson in 2017. Even if it means that my juicy dividend rate doesn't get juicier for another year.
