Pathfinder to Drill Cu-Au Project

Pathfinder to Drill Cu-Au Project Pathfinder to Drill-Test Large Geophysical Targets at Zulema Copper-Gold Project, Chile Tuesday March 2, 9:10 am ET Link to Feature Story: https://www.canadianminingnews.com/globalstory12.htm VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Pathfinder Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: PHR - News) reports that it plans to undertake a 2,000 metre diamond drilling program on the Zulema Iron Oxide Copper-Gold (IOCG) project located in northern Chile. Expected to commence in April, the drilling is intended to extend the 2003 drill program into new areas believed to be prospective for ore-grade copper-gold values. As well, a very large coincident magnetic and induced polarization (IP) anomaly, recently delineated by property-wide geophysical surveys, will be drill tested. The property-wide geophysical surveys, completed in January 2004, covered a 5 km by 2 km area immediately north of the zone tested by preliminary drilling in 2003, which confirmed the presence of a Candelaria-type sulphide copper-gold system. The newly surveyed area (Central and North Zones) contains a large IP anomaly, approximately 4 km by 1 km in size, which overlies several distinct magnetic anomalies. The Zulema property lies 30 kilometres west of the word-class Candelaria IOCG deposit being mined by Phelps Dodge Corporation (NYSE: PD - News), where historical production plus reserves aggregate in the order of 475 million tonnes grading 0.95% copper and 0.22 g/t gold. At Candelaria, much of the ore is associated with abundant magnetite, which generates a large magnetic anomaly. The gold-bearing, copper sulphides in the ore produce a moderate strength IP anomaly, which in part coincides with the magnetic zone. As well, the andesite host rock at Candelaria is extensively skarned and potassically altered. Drilling by Pathfinder in 2003 in the South Zone of the Property's large 7.5 km by 1.5 km magnetic anomaly, demonstrated that a Candelaria-type sulphide system exists on Zulema. Hole Z-03-02 intersected 99.2 metres grading 0.24% copper and 0.06 g/t gold including 22.7 metres of 0.45% copper and 0.11 g/t gold, as well as 3.2 metres of 0.86% copper and 0.23 g/t gold. The widespread distribution of copper and gold bearing sulphides in magnetiferous andesitic rocks that have undergone pervasive potassic alteration and skarnification suggests the geological setting to be analogous to that at Candelaria.
