IVN's corporate headquarters is located in Vancouver, making it a Canadian company.

Hahaha, it's not like we are selling any of our product to Canada. It won't affect our production or revenues one bit. I guess China will not be able to buy us out BUT it does open the door for anyone else to throw in a offer as the Chinese could trump it BUT the deal would now not fly SO this could lead to some interesting offers. Business as usual ............................ next.

AlwaysLong683, You said "IVN's corporate headquarters is located in Vancouver, making it a Canadian company. Were the need to arise, that Canadian domiciled corporation status can change lickety-split. It could happen so fast your head would spin.

The last large Canadian-based company I know of that moved their corporate HQs from Canada to the United states was Encana (Ovintiv) in 2019. I am not aware of any large precious metal or base metal company doing so in recent history, including large gold / silver / copper companies like AEM, ABX, K, or AGI. We'll see if any do so in the future, but unlike Ovintiv at the time of their move ...more

I'm not the smartest guy on the block but my first reaction is this will hurt everyday Canadians more so than the IVNs of the world.   Our Canadian gov is so incompetent.

the canadian mining companies will be moving their head offices out of canada , and their stock off canadian exchanges . the decline of canada , continues . good job dear minority leader trudoh .

It would be much easier for IVN to redomicle as they really have no assets in Canada unlike Ovintiv who still maintains a very large footprint in the country.   Its a bit of a mute point anyways because everyone already knows China has no interest in selling its control block.  IVN has never been a takeover target.  China didn't partner into IVN for a capital gain, they ...more

you say , .." A country run by fools."... 100% yes , but that does not say much for the canadian voters . sadly ,  i think it is going to be very hard to vote out dear minority leader trudoh  and the ndp/lib destruction coalition when we get to vote in 2025 .

It's not just China or other nations of concern re. Canadian national security that the new directive applies to. Any company headquartered in another country will have to undergo the same Fed assessment to determine if it is in Canada's best interest to allow the purchase of Canadian-based companies producing what the government considers "critical minerals" like copper, uranium ...more

The Investment Canada Act alllows for the government to block Canadian miners with only foreign mines to also be blocked from selling to entities not considered friendly to national secutity. On the flip side the Canadian government encourages investment by foreign entities considered friendly to national security. So BHP, Glencore and Freeport would probably be okay China and the Saudis probably ...more

Exactly, BHP could feel a little more willing to throw in a offer knowing the Chinese can't make a offer. Citic as we speak only has shares in the company. They are not receiving any copper so if the price is right they just may vote yes. This actually opens the door for an offer, I think this is a good thing.
