Veritas: Is Barrick (ABX) Stalking Kinross (K)?

Kinross (K) hiring a defensive financial advisor only one week after Barrick Gold Corp (ABX) ousted its CEO sparked Veritas to suspect K as a likely takeover target. The transaction would help ABX grow its production beyond 2015, largely by accelerating the development of K’s development projects. On the other hand, the acquisition would increase ABX’s operating costs, reduce its flexibility to raise dividends, and threaten to dilute shareholders for the sake of empire building.
