Thanks for the history lesson about Harry.  We have a little bit of mining history of our own.   The Great Bonanza, the Comstock Lode, and Mr. John Mackay, who every one of his acquaintance held him in the highest regard, unlike your hero’s unsavory past.  They said that Mackay greeted each he met on the way to his office each day.

Of course I may be prejudiced having participated in an intensive study of Nevada’s gold mining industry that was conducted by professional geologists at the University of Nevada ‘s Mackay School of Mines.

Of course I realize that doesn’t compare with the edification that the Gopher Queen received through Wikipedia.  But it's the best I can do.

Im a mining contractor putz:) And Nevada is being stripped of its resources by Canadian based/founded companies like Barrick and Fnv. I talk to Mark every other day and tell him to send some of that gold out the back door to avoid paying state royalties.

South African that chap. I met a few of them over the course of my career including one mine manager who said he carried a pistol to work everyday and made use of it. But that was back in the day:)

I think he uses a covid temperature gun now instead of a pistol. I heard he was the health and safety person for another south african based gold miner now.
