RE:Push for improved safety standardsI see the problem as a failure of derailing switching which clearly did not fire in this dead man situation....there are so many ways this disaster could have been avoided but .apparantly no one is serious about a fail safe. why is it that semi tractor trialors will 'dynamite' on depressuring whereas trains have no such intrisic failsafe....stupid, or worse too costly.
this is intolerable.....mmar shoudl be sued out of existence for this....and forget the engineer. this train was inspected after a fire for chissake.....who were these people....hedge fund managers in coveralls?
