Don't want to seem too Doom&Gloom. There was/is a sign where I live that there is imminent trouble on the horizen. My home is in Northen New England. This week, mail delivery in this area has pretty much ceased. To my thinking, this is the tip of the iceburg. If this country can't even deliver the mail, how can it begin to think that it can solve the world's problems. Societal breakdown is around the corner.
How soon or how fast it will come is anybodys' guess, but I see signs that it is coming. What part can gold play in heading off the consiquences of these events for folks who believe still that gold can play a big part in our survival as both individuals and collectively? I have tried to squirrel away a little physical
gold. Some of it in the smallest coins available. I suspect that this type of asset will probably be usefull only in a barter situation. If anyone out there has feedbact on these thoughts, I'd love to see it.

I think both of these issues can be resolved with much higher pay,,and then there will be people from other industries chasing after emplyees to fill the slots that they lost. All very inflationary. Historically the US has imported people to do low ...more

Thanks Ami for your response. I feel quite certain that there is absolutely no quick fix in regards to the postal situation, short of calling out the national guard to supplement the efforts of the carriers that remain. The situation has been evolving slowly and will by  no means  be corrected in the short term. Congress used the usual tactic of throwing monopoly money at the situation ...more

What is the difference between 160 billion in monopoly money and 160 million in monopoly money? Answer: a little over 58 billion or so. Whatever! The figure should have been 160 million.Looks like KRRis up to almost 3mm ozs of AU.
