According to Yahoo Finance (available to everyone for free) , as of Jan 4, 2016, LIQ shorts are 950.15K. They have increased from Nov 30, 2015. Will keep an eye on it and will post all new developments.

Remember ~2-4% short interest is very small.  Bound to see short covering soon which will also give a boost to pushing up the price.  If oil is bottomed then lights out for short sellers.  They won't want the maintenance of paying the divy each month while losing paper profit.

The short position on this stock is way down. It sits at 950k at the end of December and that is from a high of just under 1.8 Million at the end of October. No idea where your numbers are from but they are way out in left field. The shorts here have covered almost half their position in the last 2 months!
