Stop losses likely kicked in.
Sometimes happens when issues have had a rather rapid increment. People want to lock in gains using "stop losses". The brokers can see this and start selling their way down to where they can acquire shares at lower prices. IF and it is a big if this is the case then sometimes there is a quick recovery the next day. Onward and Upward
