Quick Take
Newsletter: Katusa’s Resource Opportunities
Stock: Possibly Lucara Diamonds (LUC.TO, LUCRF)
Travis take: Katusa’s promoting this heavily as a new “toll road” business that’s similar to a royalty, and Lucara is my best guess — mostly because it meets the clues and has people connected to Katusa on the board. The possible “toll road” is their Clara business that they hope will replace inefficient auctions with a blockchain-driven marketplace for easier buy/sell connections and traceable stones. No idea whether it will take off or not, but they intend to commercialize it later this year, and it is a solid diamond miner that’s profitable, extending its mine underground, and pays a 4% dividend, so it has some appeal if you want a diamond miner in your portfolio.
