Article in Las Vegas newspaperhttps://www.reviewjournal.com/business/nevada-mine-shutting-down-laying-off-117-workers-3068532/
Key points:
Laying off 117 workers permanently.
Company says 'it does plan to close'.
No resumption of operations in the works for Pumpkin Hollow or NCU. As I suspected the $20M is for payment of salaries and obligations already incurred. The 117 layoffs likely represent a large majority of the operations force. There are a lot of contractors there who will also lose their jobs, but will not be among this 'count' as NCU 'employees.
The remainder of the $60M will be to continue transition to 'care and maintenance' while meeting environmental and other liabilities.
Pumpkin Hollow is closing down, folks. NCU will cease to exisit. The property will remain on care and maintenance indefinitely until someone buys it, or until it can be mothballed and put to bed.
Any speculation about a government bailout or takeover is baseless.
