I think this woke business has exceeded reason. At least where the Atlanta Braves are concerned. The Washington “Redskins”, naaaw … that is another matter, but the connotation to “Braves” is of a warrior, a hero, a man who has met his test of manhood. It ain’t about putting Native Americans down, but rather to striving to attain that high standard of courage or strenght.
You notice that no one is complaining about those murderous thugs, the"Vikings", and I’m sure there are plenty of descendants of real “49’ers” along the western foothills of the Sierra.
Personally, I’d be pleased if a baseball team or any team except bowling maybe, called themselves the “Desert Rats”, or how about “Kangaroo Rats”? Don’t care for “Pack Rats” too much, that’s what the local Health department calls me.
