BlackRock says the boom could last for decades if the price of copper tops $ 10,000

"Commodity prices can stay high for decades as mining companies struggle to keep up with energy transition demand," Evy Hambro, global head of thematic and sector-based investments at BlackRock, told Bloomberg TV.

“We have had high infrastructure investment rates for decades as the world tries to reduce carbonation. It's a common consensual view, ”he said. "What we are likely to see is strong demand that will keep prices for producers at very, very good levels for many years, and that could take decades."

Commodities and the stocks of some of the companies that make them hit record highs last year as massive global stimulus measures support consumption. At the same time, the shift towards a greener world creates a new demand for metals such as copper, lithium and nickel.

"It's unlikely this trend will change anytime soon," said Hambro.
