Another Right-winger “explanation” for the total disgust I feel toward the gross corruption of the GOP is abuse as a child. So, for the record here’s the facts.
My father was a war hero, an officer and gentleman was awarded 5 battle stars for his service during WWII including the Battle of Midway aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise. He was a Republican all his life as that had been the family tradition ever since my great-great great grandaddy newspaper publisher and abolitionist switched from the Whig party following Abraham Lincoln’s lead. The barebones facts my father once told me about his family were they had a publishing background and fought for the Union. The rest I've filled in with my research.
I considered myself at the time a Goldwater Republican, although serving as a non-commissioned officer in the U. S. Navy I was still too young to vote for him in 1964. Ten years later I had the opportunity to meet him and a more charming man I never met.
