MORE NEWS!

MORE NEWS!Northern Financial Corporation - Announces appointment of George Garner as Executive Vice President, Private Client at Northern Securities TORONTO, Jun 30, 2005 (Canada NewsWire via COMTEX) -- Northern Financial Corporation (TSX: NFC) ("Northern" or the "Company") today announced the appointment of George Garner as Executive Vice President, Private Client at Northern Securities Inc. ("Northern Securities"). In this capacity Mr. Garner will be responsible for the national retail business which represents approximately one-third of the total revenue of Northern Securities. Mr. Garner's plan is to grow the retail business of Northern Securities substantially by the hiring of retail advisors who are interested in working in a collegial, entrepreneurial environment and who may believe their efforts are under-appreciated at their current firms. These retail advisors are the target market for Northern who tend to have annual production and assets under administration in the mid-range of Canadian retail brokers. Mr. Garner has been in the securities industry for 20 years, the past 11 years having been spent with a large bank owned brokerage firm. He was National Sales Manager and Head of the bank's Full Service Business from 1999 to 2004 where he set the strategic direction of the retail group, grew assets under administration from $39 billion to over $50 billion and was responsible for over 800 retail advisors. In his most recent position at the bank-owned firm, Mr. Garner was Managing Director and Head of the International Brokerage team where he was responsible for delivering brokerage services to wealthy customers of the bank worldwide. Mr. Garner stated: "Northern represents an exciting opportunity to build a retail business that addresses a significant gap in the Canadian marketplace. We want to provide at Northern a home for solid professional advisors looking for an entrepreneurial environment where their efforts will be appreciated. This entrepreneurial environment will enable retail advisors to service the fundamental investment needs of all clients." Vic Alboini, Chairman and CEO of Northern Securities stated: "We are very pleased to welcome George Garner to Northern Securities to lead and grow our retail business across Canada. George is an experienced team player who will fit very well in Northern's team based culture. A major strategic priority for Northern is the growth in our retail business targeting the under-appreciated retail advisor who has good, solid production. The retail growth will complement our Institutional Capital Markets business by providing retail advisors with access to private placements and public offerings of small cap companies that are unique, distinctive, proprietary and also under-appreciated in the market. Our expanded retail team will provide important distribution and liquidity for our small cap corporate clients." "At Northern, our constant service is to champion distinctive and under-appreciated small cap companies, in the same way that we champion under-appreciated retail advisors", Mr. Alboini noted. Northern Financial Corporation wholly owns Northern Securities, a full service brokerage firm that provides financial advisory services to retail and institutional clients and investment banking services to small capitalization companies.
