Sell the plant to whoever, I don't care, there's got to be some company out there that would want to buy it.

As far as I know, Shareholders owning >5% have the legal right to call a share holder vote

Vote on a resolution to solicit offers to purchase the plant.
1)  an independent investment bank solicits bids.  NOT the "trust"ees.  
2)  After X period (60 days?) to solicit bids, all bids are presented to shareholders, and NOT kept "secret" or "confidential" by the trustees.  
3) The share holders decide on whether to accept the highest offer, NOT the trustees

You can't trust the "trust"ees.  They don't own any shares of significance and their interests are not aligned with shareholders who have skin in the game.
